November 1 – 15, 2011
Reception: Friday, November 4, 6-8pm
In honor of SOFA, Chicago’s International Exposition of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art, Lillstreet Gallery is featuring three nationally-recognized jewelry artists.
Chicago-based School of the Art Institute graduate Gustav Reyes creates his wood jewelry by re-purposing salvaged wood (a reminder of the past, present, and future) using a cold bend process and all natural beeswax finishing. St. Louis-based Peg Fetter, who uses steel and gold to create her organic designs and contrasting pieces, has taught workshops around the country, as well as teaching at Craft Alliance, Fontbonne University, and St. Louis University. Seattle-based Lulu Smith’s boldly colored pieces feature hand-poured and pigmented resin outlined in sterling silver; popular pieces include her backless earrings that glow like glass in the light, and her bracelets.
