What was the impetus for becoming a ceramic artist?
I knew that I would be an artist in high school. I started working with clay in college and I fell in love with the material and communal aspect of ceramics
What inspires your forms and surfaces?
Material and technique inspire my forms and surfaces.
Who are your favorite artists?
Ricardo Paniaqua and Sol LeWitt.
How did your current aesthetic style come to be?
I began experimenting with water carving around 2000. Everything I do now is a continuation of that experiment.
What is your favorite form to make?
Tumblers and jars.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Buy property. Draw everyday. Travel.
Do you have other creative outlets/practices?
If you weren’t an artist, what would your dream job be?
