Behold: Modern Metal Vessels

Lillstreet Gallery is pleased to announce a juried exhibition of metalwork. Artists working in metal are invited to submit functional and non-functional work in the form of a vessel, box, or container. Proposed work must be made of at least 50% metal, however multi-media work is welcome. Maximum size is three feet in any dimension.

About the Juror:   Yann Woolley is an advocate, collector, curator, juror and educator for contemporary fine crafts. Her gallery Pistachios, est. 1992, is a leading contemporary jewelry gallery based in downtown Chicago and has won multiple accolades throughout the country and abroad. Pistachios has been a part of SOFA Chicago exposition for the past 11 years. Yann holds a B.A. degree of English Literature from Duk Sung Women’s University, Korea.

Submission Requirements:
1. Up to 5 images of proposed work, JPEG format. Work proposed must be created within the past 5 years and must be the actual work available for the exhibition.
2. Short bio/Artist Statement
3.  Application fee: $35 (nonrefundable)

Delivery of Accepted Work:  All accepted work must be delivered to Lillstreet Gallery by April 6, 2015.

Sales and Return of Unsold Work: Lillstreet Gallery will retain 50% commission on all sales. Any unsold work will be returned to the artist within four weeks of the exhibition closing date at the expense of the gallery.

Lillstreet Rooftop Project Space

Application Deadline: February 27, 2015


Artists are invited to install work onto four, 9-foot flag poles on top of Lillstreet’s rooftop deck and garden. Flags as well as alternative installation proposals will be considered. Work can be seen from the CTA Montrose Brown Line elevated tracks and Metra Train tracks, as well as Montrose and Ravenswood Avenues.  Installations rotate monthly, May through December and work is displayed indoors prior to install date. Cash prizes are awarded to Best In Show ($500) and Honorable Mention ($150) artists. Photo documentation will be provided to all participating artists, as well as opportunities for artist receptions. All work will be archived on the Lillstreet Art Center gallery page and in the Textile Department’s hallway gallery.

Deadline: February 27, 2015. Proposals will be reviewed by Camille Canales, Director of Textile Department and Nora Renick-Rinehart, 2014-2015 Artist-in Residence
