Print & Object | Work by Emily Culbert: Apr 8 – May 15
Emily Culbert’s current practice builds upon traditional printmaking processes while investigating their relationship to the three-dimensional object. She creates print media, artists' books, and sculptures that merge into constructed objects made from paper, clay, wood, concrete, and plastic. By combining prints with traces of both ancient and contemporary building materials, she examines the role of shape, pattern, and materiality in the built environment. When viewed from above, the built environment morphs into a myriad of patterns and shapes; a landscape generated by material. Her pieces aim to explore and dissect these landscapes.
A graduate of Skidmore College, Emily recently completed a Studio Fellowship at Spudnik Press Printmaking Cooperative.
