Lisa Slodki began making jewelry as a childhood hobby using scraps of wire and pliers found on her father's workbench. As she refined her self-taught skills over the years, an affinity for understated elegance and the small scale emerged and has remained a consistent theme of her designs. In 1996 she received her BFA in Metals/Jewelry Design from Illinois State University and has been producing her jewelry as a Chicago-based artist for the past 15 years. Wirework continues to be at the heart of her designs which display her ongoing exploration and love of this material. In her own words, "The logic and practice of geometry inspires my designs as well as my personal introspection. From the structure of the milky way to a snail's spiral shell, certain patterns can be found throughout living systems. For me, these forms represent patterns of growth."
