Air Travel

October 2016

Air Travel is a tribute to organic matter that surrounds us in our daily lives and yet may go unnoticed. This new work depicts seeds, pollen and insects native to Illinois that use the wind as a means of transport. Maple tree, dandelion and milkweed seeds are seen as graphic stripes on one flag. Dragonflies, lightning bugs and monarch butterflies represent insects in migration. I seek to celebrate objects found in nature, taking visual notes and creating a new visual vocabulary that celebrates the world around us.
